Rune is a side character in Paper Lily that has the appearence of a hooded figure. Lacie first meets rune on a pier right outside of Red's Tree House northwest of the forest.
Appearence
Rune wears a maroon / burgundy colored cloak which looks like it has a face on it. Rune's facial features aren't visible apart from their eyes and horns with the latter being part of the hood itself.
Personality
Rune has a very cheerful personality and is generally friendly towards humans even while being a demon. They possess an almost childlike personality while also being knowledgeable; this can be seen with their first interaction with Lacie, where Rune notices Lacie is cursed and leads her to the light house where Red supposedly is.
Introduction
Before meeting, Lacie will have to overcome a set of three spike puzzles just to reach Rune. Upon finally reaching them, Rune expresses their interest towards runes and promptly asks Lacie if she has any. After that exchange Rune realises Lacie has a curse on her and tells her to seek Red to lift her curse. When Lacie asks where Red is; Rune tells her that Red goes to a lighthouse north of the big tree, to which Rune adds the fact that in order to get to the lighthouse she would have to pass through the locked site and warns her about the danger while also adding the lack of light in the area.
Rune can be seen again in the Facility, right after Lacie escapes her prison cell and meets Sai. Upon seeing them both, Rune calls out to Lacie to which she cuts off to not let Sai know her name, since she doesn't trust him. After which she learn Rune already knows Sai, adding the fact that their encounters are brief because of the lack of a rune exchange. When Lacie mentions looking for the lighthouse, Rune tells her that she must've taken a wrong turn after the lake, and that there is no way out of the Facility.
Interacting
Lacie can trade runes with Rune, giving her couple of extra items, some of which are required to get all of the achievements. The items Rune gives are predetermined, and are always given in order. If more runes are given beyond this list, Rune will give one coin per rune[1]. The items you can get are listed at the table below.

Secrets / Trivia
Earlier in development Rune's cloak was a pale greenish color as opposed to the more purple appearance we have at release. Some of the earlier promo pictures show them in this green color also.
