The Bus Ritual is one of the rituals detailed in the Golden Envelopes. The ritual and its consequences are the main plot of Chapter 1. It summons a bus to collect the performer of the ritual and spirit them away.
Instructions
You must play alone.
- Requirements
- An indoor location
- A landline phone
- A red thread
- Red paint
- A rune
- A clock
- Preparations
Complete the preparations before the sun has set.
- Tie a red thread to the phone cord.
- Using the red paint, draw the following symbol on the exit door of your chosen location. The door must lead outside.
- Set the alarm clock to midnight.
- Instructions
- Go to sleep.
- When the alarm clock rings, get up and dial the following number on the phone: 999281#0
- When the line connects, say the following words: "My bus is late".
- Board the bus before it leaves.
- Place the rune inside the ticket machine.
- Remember
- Do NOT bring any weapons with you.
- The phone may no longer look the same at night.
- Remember the placement of the numbers.
Doing the Ritual
After succesfully preparing for the ritual and going to sleep, Lacie will wake up in the dream. After the dream she wakes up at midnight to continue doing the ritual. The house has some changes while the ritual in ongoing. Upon dialing the number and choosing the right option you can go outside to get on the bus. Failure to choose the right option or missing the bus will lead to Lacie undoing the ritual.
At the bus, Lacie falls asleep and goes to the dream world once again, while there you can go out of the bed area to the black void or to the door to end the dream.
When she wakes up you can:
- Go back to your seat.
- Talk with the NPC's
- Talk to the bus driver.
- Get off the bus.
After Lacie "flees" the bus she ends up in a forest where the story continues, from this point on the bus ritual is considered "done".
Notes / Trivia
- Notably, the ritual instructions state in the Requirements section that a clock is needed. However, the instructions later state that the ritual requires an alarm clock specifically.
