Aoi is a character in Paper Lily who Lacie encounters while inside the fairy ring, only if she brought the scissors with her. Aoi themself is shy and a bit nihilistic (as they are quick to accept their own demise several times and not look for a solution) but in the end seems to have a turnaround due to Lacie's actions, and looks to move on with their life.

Story Relevance

When Lacie is in the Fairy Ring, she can come across another wriggling bulb, similar to the one she came out of. If you interact with the bulb using the scissors, Aoi will be freed from it, and they will proceed to follow Lacie around as a member of the party. After exploring through the Fairy Ring and solving the puzzles, the two will reach a dead end, at which point Lacie then suggests for Aoi to escape through the drainage connected to the bathtub in the hopes that Aoi could find a way to escape. Although the drain doesn't lead directly to an exit, it leads to a larger fairy mouth, at which point the story will diverge depending on certain actions taken before entering the Fairy Ring.

If Lacie had previously met Alba, bought the 99 fish from her, and interacted with the tree mirror to throw them down the tree's hollow trunk, then Aoi will come across these fish next to the fairy mouth and throw them along with their own possessions into the mouth to fill the mouth and make it spit everything out. Aoi's plan is successful, allowing them and Lacie to espace while destroying some of the surrounding area, though they are immediately interrogated by Alba who threatens Aoi with Wendy's judgement. Alternatively, if Lacie either didn;t throw the fish down the tree, didn't buy the fish, or didn't encounter Alba at all, then Aoi will not have enough things to feed the fairy ring, leading to Dead End 1-6, Ground Swallow Me Up.

Once they reach a dead end, Lacie suggests using the drainage likely connected to the bathtub so that Aoi can go out and get out, however even through these drains, Aoi is unable to fully escape. However Aoi does find a much larger fairy mouth at which point the story diverges a bit, if Lacie met [[Alba]], [[Million]] and [[Kozmo]] and brought the 99 fish deal from Alba then chucked them all down the tree, then Aoi will throw these fish and everything else Aoi has on them into the main fairy mouth in an attempt to fill it up in order for it spit things back out, this works and both Lacie and Aoi are freed from the fairy ring while some of the surrounding area is destroyed, they are then quickly interrogated by Alba who threatens them before Aoi threatens her with [[Wendy]]'s judgement. However should Lacie have either not brought all 99 fish or not thrown them down the tree (or not met Alba at all), then Aoi will not have enough things to feed the Fairy ring and Lacie will die of lack of sustenance while Aoi presumably meets the same fate
