The ''Library'' is a location in chapter 1 of ''[[Paper Lily]]'' which is only accessible via a cursed door using the repaired ''[[Gray Doorknob]]''.
The Library is a relatively small area with the only areas smaller being the ''[[Garden]]'' accessible with the ''[[Doorknob With Flower]]''. Within the Library four books can be read with the following lore likely mattering in the future, every ritual participant is tracked by ____, no way for a human to enter by non-ritual means exist and even if there was a way they would be easily detected, average survival time of a human post ritual is 15 minutes, however the average time of survival jumps to 140 minutes if ritual rules are breached and the average adherence to ritual rules is currently 98.31%. _____ individuals along with the sick and elderly are considered worthless to demons additionally, non-_____, sick or elderly people are harder for demons to see but a normal human can be sensed from at least 5m away. Finally demons won't hesitate to kill and consume, however the consumption of souls is limited by someone unnamed and anyone caught freely consuming souls is to be reported to likely the same individual.

Other than the books nothing else seems to be present in the Library.

The '''''Golden Envelopes''''' within the story of ''[[Paper Lily]]'' are the instructions to undertake rituals which actually work, they are first introduced in ''[[Project Kat]]'' where Kat gets her hands on one and finally finds a ritual which actually works, this may imply that the only rituals which work in the world of Paper Lily are those from the Golden Envelopes. Adding to this Lacie has to order her ritual online where it them arrives in her mail.

The likely use of rituals in the story is that of collecting souls, many books and a couple characters (within the facility found in dead end 4) make reference to this fact with most of it coming from the [[Library]] found with the repaired doorknob fragments. Within this Library it is revealed that the rituals are in fact a way for demons to collect souls for them to feed on and the [[Glen]] is likely in charge of whatever organisation in putting out the ritual letters (this organisation is almost assuredly [[The Council]]).

Many of these letters can be found in Project Kat once [[Kat]] finishes her ritual and begins interacting with the world her ritual takes her to, the letters made reference to in Project Kat refer to the following rituals:

Chapter 1 is the first chapter of [[Paper Lily]], following [[Project Kat|the prologue]] and preceding [[Chapter 2]]. It follows [[Lacie]], a suicidal girl, struggling to find her place in the world as the primary character.

[[Lacie]] speaks to herself about how the first item on a list is the hardest to cross off. The player is given several choices on what to order, but as she waits for her order, Lacie overhears people talking about her and storms out, going [[Lacie's House|home]]. At home, Lacie crosses off a list of things she wants to do before she dies, then prepares for a [[Bus Ritual|ritual]] using instructions given to her in a [[Golden Envelopes|golden letter]] and asks her brother [[Hiro]] to leave for the night. At midnight, Lacie follows the ritual, summoning a bus to take her away.

[[Lacie]] falls asleep on the bus, but then remembers advice she found on online forums telling her to not take the bus to the end and gets off at the next stop. She finds herself just outside a [[forest]] and passes through it, passing a large tree. She finds a [[Red's Treehouse|treehouse]], where she meets a [[Demons|demon]] named [[Rune]]. The boat takes her to a [[Cursed Door|door]] with room for many [[Doorknob|doorknobs]]. One doorknob takes Lacie to [[White Moth|two]] [[Yellow Moth|moths]], who wish to kill [[caterpillar|their younger brother]] for being too annoying. Lacie disposes of it (potentially non-lethally) and is rewarded with another doorknob.

Following this [[doorknob]], [[Lacie]] passes out and wakes up in a cell. Escaping the area through a vent, she finds herself in the middle of a [[facility]]. There she meets [[Sai]]. Sai drops the first swear in the game and leads Lacie away as a [[primal demon]] appears. They find themselves in what appears to be an operation room, where they hide until the primal leaves.

Further exploring the [[facility]], they come across a [[Miss Knives' House|house]] and enter, only to be imprisoned by its inhabitant. After breaking free, she explores the house and discovers the story of [[Miss Knives]] until bringing her to a complete mental breakdown, destroying the house, which is revealed to just have been an illusion brought about by Knives' psychic powers.

Lacie eventually comes across another [[Cursed Door|door]] with room for more [[Doorknob|doorknobs]]. She puts in the Return Doorknob and goes home.

Despite her accomplishments, she tends to downplay them and internalize blame for her situation when things go wrong. In an attempt to address the root cause of her issues, she performs a ritual to seek answers and improve her social skills. At the same time, sees these rituals as an opportunity to break out of her comfort zone, believing that life would be simpler without the presence of others if she fails to find the answers she seeks.

When she met '''''[[Sai]]''''', Lacie initially did not trust him because his behavior towards her seemed different from everyone else's. She was unsure of his intentions and whether he even cared about her curse. She ignored him when he asked personal questions, but as he helped her through some obstacles, she began to trust him more. Eventually, she felt comfortable enough to share her name and open up about her past with Sai. She revealed that she used to be sociable and outgoing before a curse afflicted her, causing everyone, including animals, to treat her poorly. This pushed her to isolate herself from the world.

When Lacie found a door and saw a vase of white lily in a garden, she started to consider Sai's advice on focusing on self-growth rather than rushing to complete everything on her [[To-Do list|bucket list before dying]]. This helped her realize the importance of maintaining a positive mindset, and she thanked Sai for his support whenever she needed it.

'''Project Kat''' acts as the prologue to ''[[Paper Lily]]'' however is a seperate game and follows ''[[Kat]]'', a highschool girl who undertakes a ritual in her school. This is not the first ritual Kat has undertaken but is the first we see Kat do.

[[Kat]] wakes up in a field, where she comes across a door and several lilies in vases. Upon opening the door, she is confronted by a demonic figure and Kat wakes up in the [[school]].

The game cuts to three girls in the occult clubroom, playing with a Wiji Game Board, attempting to receive messages from a ghost. [[Kat]] enters and explains the ideomotor effect, to the girls' displeasure.

Kat then proceeds to prepare for a ritual, gathering various materials from throughout the school. When she performs the ritual, she hears a bang on the door. However, the candles go out of their own accord instead of Kat blowing them out as the [[Golden Envelopes|golden letter]] containing the instructions suggests.

When she opens her eyes, [[Kat]] finds herself in a strange world, where she eventually finds the corpses of the three girls. She eventually finds a door and the game finishes.

Paper Lily: Formatting

Marzie is one of two 'treasure hunters' who attempted to go north through the locked site at least 5 years prior to [[Lacie]]'s arrival. However, unlike her partner, whose corpse can likely be found strewn about an area within the area containing the primals where the trail of petals ends, Marzie's fate remains a mystery for the most part save a note at from 5 years after their partner's death.

Marzie and her partner are only mentioned through the notes which the partner leaves for Marzie (labeled treasure hunter's notes 1-4 and treasure hunter's letter which serve to clue Lacie into one way of heading north through the Primal paddock). These notes will lead Lacie to one of two ways to enter the locked site and progress the story.

Marzie themselves however is responsible for the gravestone through the ''[[Doorknob With Flower]]'', on the back of the gravestone a message can be found, in which Marzie pay respects to their lost partner and wonders if things would've been different had they been with them when they went into the locked site. The note finishes with Marzie promising to visit them soon. This note also reveals that it is Marzie who keeps up the locks and poster warning people not to enter the locked site so as to avoid a repeat of the past.

He is first seen on the bus in [[Chapter 1]] and later in the facility once ''[[Lacie]]'' has escaped her cell, where he joins the party until the completion of Chapter 1. It is likely that he was the user on the [[Devil’s Eye Forums]], where Lacie found the [[Bus Ritual|ritual]], with the 'good reputation' who said to get off the bus prior to it arriving at its final destination and thus helps Lacie avoid death within the [[Facility|meat facility]].

== Personality ==
He is somewhat unserious and has minimal respect for his own life, but is knowledgeable about the world of [[Chapter 1]]. He also seems to care for those around him and how they treat themselves shown through his final interaction with [[Lacie]] at the end of Chapter 1, telling her to get rid of her 'things to do before I die list' and instead replacing it with a 'things to do once you get fixed list' and despite how clumsy he is about telling Lacie this, it does show that he cares at least whether she thinks she should live or die. Additionally, although it would be incorrect to say that he cares not for his own life, he does seems quick to brush away the fact that both he and Lacie nearly died several times simply because it was 'fun' although for someone experienced with the other world as he seems to be this may be more normal.

Miss Knives

Miss Knives is an antagonist of [[Chapter 1]] of ''[[Paper Lily]]'' and acts as the final boss of this chapter of the game. Towards the end of chapter one's story as [[Lacie]] attempts to escape the facility her and [[Sai]] find themselves trapped within Miss Knives' house where, after loitering in the living room, they are both trapped inside cages which Lacie escapes from through currently unexplained means involving one of the games dream sequences. From there Lacie meets up with ''[[Spider]]'' who explains how the two must break Miss Knives' illusion in order to escape her house. From here Lacie and Sai do that and on the way learn of Miss Knives past and the experiments performed on her before a boss fight occurs and the two escape leaving Miss Knives behind in the facility in what is now revealed to be her cell, not her house.

==Personality==
Miss Knives herself is a broken and traumatised demon born/created from a child who was burnt during one of the Witch trials which occurred in the past. This trauma is further emphasized by the experiments which were done upon her to explore her power as a demon to create illusions and build upon it. She is shy most of the time and now avoids people as a whole likely due to her past interactions with them both in life and during her time as a demon.

Miss Knives lives with this condition for many years and makes a friend during this time, ''[[Iris]]'' Miss Knives and Iris oft play together at the river bank and Iris enjoys Miss Knives presence despite her disability and finds joy in telling her all about the wonderful and amazing things which exist around them. It is during this time that the two make a promise to run away once they turn 14 (although Miss Knives is not completely on board with this as she enjoys her simple life). It was after this that Miss Knives' experiences her first 'blessing' as she simply woke up one morning able to see and was initially very happy about this despite now being able to see the middling situation she lived in. However due to her eyesight just suddenly returning many of the villagers and even her own parents became cold towards her as she was now seem as some mystic outcast and even Iris admitted she was nervous around her (though still overjoyed at her friends new sight)

After this Miss Knives would receive her second 'blessing', a sketchbook from her friend [[Iris]] which Iris had stolen from her family. However, many strange drawings which Miss Knives was not responsible for would appear within its pages. These were not pleasant either, being described as 'painted in black' and 'twisted and scary'. After this her life would return to (mostly) normal until her third blessing, her mother was sick and in an attempt to save her Miss Knives held a cold compress to her forehead and managed to unknowingly heal her of her ailment through mystical means. The townspeople, seeing her mother up and well again so quickly, accused her of witchcraft and burnt Miss Knives' mother at the stake, an event which Miss Knives herself would witness. From here her bullying would continue, culminating in a group of boys stealing her sketchbook, seeing the drawings within and destroying it, it is her that her fourth 'blessing' would occur leading to a proper manifestation of her mystic powers and causing her to destroy one of the boys legs, in the process getting ousted as a witch and losing her friend Iris as Iris' father forbade them from meeting.

From here the final chapter of Miss Knives' living life would begin as her family home was broken into and she was to be burnt as the stake as a witch with her father dying with her. Her father instead attempted to claim that she was not his child to no success before he was killed. Miss Knives was then in her cell when her fifth 'blessing' would come in the form of a knife which her friend Iris had brought for her to kill herself with, not before revealing that Iris had in fact told her father about Miss Knives being a witch in the hopes of him protecting her, not realising that the opposite would in fact occur. Miss Knives is an antagonist of chapter 1 of ''[[Paper Lily]]'' and acts as the final boss of this chapter of the game. Towards the end of chapter one's story as [[Lacie]] attempts to escape the facility her and [[Sai]] find themselves trapped within Miss Knives' house where, after loitering in the living room, they are both trapped inside cages which Lacie escapes from through currently unexplained means involving one of the games dream sequences. From there Lacie meets up with ''[[Spider]]'' who explains how the two must break Miss Knives' illusion in order to escape her house. From here Lacie and Sai do that and on the way learn of Miss Knives past and the experiments performed on her before a boss fight occurs and the two escape leaving Miss Knives behind in the facility in what is now revealed to be her cell, not her house.

Miss Knives herself is a broken and traumatised demon born/created from a child who was burnt during one of the Witch trials which occurred in the past. This trauma is further emphasized by the experiments which were done upon her to explore her power as a demon to create illusions and build upon it. She is shy most of the time and now avoids people as a whole likely due to her past interactions with them both in life and during her time as a demon.

You can feed Algae and Petals to the Little Keeper to unclog the Pipe by its shrine. If you feed the Little Keeper the wrong colors of petals and algaa, all the Bunnies in Lakeside will die and turn red, the grass will die, and the water will turn to a blood red. This leads up to [[Endings|Dead End 1-8]], Part of Your World. Interacting with the Little Keeper gives you the option to remove it from its bowl. Doing so will result in the same Dead End.

Glen is first mentioned in Dead End 1-4 "Carried Away", when one of the demons threatens to report another to him. From this, it can be inferred that Glen has a high rank in the organization behind the rituals.

[[Aoi]] mentions that Glen destroyed most of the fairy rings after an incident occurred with them wherein the fairy ring swallowed the whole station and a bus.

On the Facility Map obtained by the character [[Rune]], one of the rooms is simply labeled Glen.

Glen is mentioned in [[Miss Knives|Miss Knives’]] library in several strange texts.
He is addressed by name in these texts by an unknown associate. He discontinued Miss Knives' tests after they were all failures. This unknown associate was the one who asked him to.

Marzie is one of two 'treasure hunters' who attempted to go north through the primal area prior to Lacie's arrival. However, unlike her partner, whose corpse can likely be found strewn about an area within the area containing the primals where the trail of petals ends, it is not impossible that Marzie survives or otherwise never makes it that far for one reason or another, as the padlocks are still in place once Lacie gets there and all the keys are in the locations which Marzie's partner left them in. This may imply that Marzie met another fate (perhaps a Faerie related one) although its possible that Marzie did perish in the primal maze (there is enough bodies there for one of them to be Marzie). Additional evidence which suggests Marzie meeting a different fate is that only 1 body is present where her partner dies and the trail of petals ends.

It is also likely that he was the user on the forum which Lacie found the ritual on with the 'good reputation' who said to get off the bus prior to it arriving at its final destination and thus helps Lacie avoid death within the meat facility.

He is somewhat unserious and has minimal respect for his own life, but is knowledgeable about the world of Chapter 1. He also seems to care for those around him and how they treat themselves shown through his final interaction with Lacie at the end of chapter 1 telling her to get rid of her 'things to do before I die list' and instead replacing it with a 'things to do once you get fixed list' and despite how clumsy he is about telling Lacie this it does show that he cares at least whether she thinks she should live or die. Additionally, although it would be incorrect to say that he cares not for his own life, he does seems quick to brush away the fact that both he and Lacie nearly died several times simply because it was 'fun' although for someone experienced with the other world as he seems to be this may be more normal

You can feed Algae and Petals to the Little Keeper to unclog the Pipe by its shrine. If you feed the Little Keeper the wrong colors of petals and algaa, all the Bunnies in Lakeside will die and turn red, the grass will die, and the water will turn to a blood red. This leads up to Dead End 1-8, Part of Your World. Interacting with the Little Keeper gives you the option to remove it from its bowl. Doing so will result in the same Dead End.
